Tesla wants to conquer China with its vehicles
Tesla accelerates construction of its battery factory in Shanghai. The engineering work, which would include a machine shop and power centre, is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
Tesla has
recently signed a purchase agreement with the Korean company LG, which will supply its NCM 811 batteries for the 3 models manufactured in China. Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, said earlier that Shanghai's Gigafactory 3 would produce car batteries and complete cars. Its monthly production should reach 40,000 cars by the end of the year. The objective is to reach an annual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles per year when the second phase of the factory's construction is completed.
