Algeria launches a 4 GW auction
Algeria, which had 423 MW of solar production capacity at the end of 2019, wants to launch a call for tenders for 4 GW (800 MW per year over five years)
To be eligible, all panels, cables and mounting structures must have been manufactured in Algeria. Several Chinese manufacturers are contacting Algerian companies to manufacture equipment locally.

NDLR Comparable conditions had been established in previous calls for tender. They had discouraged international developers. Algeria, which has the Sahara and thus huge expanses of land suitable for photovoltaic, remains with 423 MW installed. It will probably be the same at the end of these calls for tenders.
