Japan also raises its non-fossil fuel energy targets
Last July, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) published a draft energy policy aimed at increase the share of non-fossil fuel energy sources (including renewables, nuclear power and hydrogen) in the electricity mix to 60% by 2030
2.5 times its current level.
The country will increase its carbon reduction target from 26% to 46% by 2030. Electricity generation from renewable sources will be increased from 22-24% to 36-38% (including 15% solar and 6% wind). The share of nuclear energy will remain unchanged at 20-22%.
