In brief from the companies : Bouygues Energies & Services and Solkompaniet, EDF Renewables, FuturaSun, BayWa r.e., Canadian Solar
Bouygues Energies & Services and Solkompaniet will jointly develop large-scale solar projects in Sweden. Together they want to meet the demand for solar power plants in the order of 100 megawatts, which they believe is growing rapidly in Sweden.
EDF Renewables is acquiring 529 MWp in Germany, spread over 17 projects that have yet to be built.
Italian panel manufacturer FuturaSun will present its new "Velvet" panel series at the Solar Solutions trade fair in Amsterdam from 14 to 16 March. Delivery of these glass panels with bifacial heterojunction cells (HJT) is expected to start in June. With outputs of up to 400 W, the Velvet series achieves an efficiency of 22%.
FuturaSun has its own manufacturing plant in China with an annual capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, which is currently being expanded.
BayWa r.e. plans to divest Solar Trade, an international solar trading business, as BayWa r.e. wants to develop as an independent power producer (IPP) and focus on its international project business.
"More than half of BayWa's consolidated profits are generated by renewable energy," says its CEO.
Canadian Solar estimates that its panel shipments will reach 35 GW this year (up from 21 GW in 2022, + 66%)
REC Silicon has not yet restarted its silicon production business. This results in a 2022 turnover of $148 million, barely above the 2021 figure. On the other hand, EBITDA has fallen from $8m in 2021 to $35m in 2022.
