Annual storage deployments almost tripled year-on-year to 3 GW / 9.2 GWh. An additional 770 MW of capacity could not be brought online in 2021 and is being carried forward to 2021. This will bring the capacity in the first quarter of 2022 to 1.7 GW.
Residential storage had its strongest quarter to date with 123 MW installed. Despite a limited supply of batteries, the segment still managed to install 85% more MWh between the year 2020 and 2021.
Rising raw material costs have led to batteries experiencing the largest price increase of any system component.
By 2027, California is expected to remain the largest residential storage market.
