Production trends for the 210 mm format

Cumulative shipments of 210 mm panels reached 150 GW at the end of June. Trina Solar accounts for half of these. By the end of the year, Trina Solar's production capacity of 210 mm

is expected to reach 722 GW, or 70% of total capacity, says TrendForce. The increase in capacity and shipments demonstrates that large-format, high-power panels (182mm and 210mm) are rapidly advancing the entire value chain. In addition, the power output of the 210mm N-type panel has exceeded 700W, underlining the openness and innovation of the 210mm product technology platform.

Production capacity for wafers production capacity is expected to reach 357 GW by the end of 2023. It increased by 89% over the year. It represents 70% of total panel capacity. Production capacity for large-format wafers (182 mm and 210 mm) is expected to reach 878 GW this year, representing a market share of 95%.

The capacity of cells (182 mm and 210 mm) is expected to reach 1,136 GW this year, or 97% of the total, TrendForce said. Capacity for 210mm cells is expected to reach 900GW, 179% more than last year. This growth will also take its market share to 77%.

TrendForce estimates that the capacity of panels capacity (182 mm and 210 mm) will reach 961 GW this year, with a market share of 93%. Production capacity for 210mm panels is expected to reach 722GW, 116% more than last year, representing 70% of total capacity.

Thanks to cost reductions, improved efficiency and a wider range of uses, large-format high-power panels now account for more than 90% of tenders. This category is establishing itself as the main choice in the end market.

Continued cost reductions and efficiency improvements will continue to drive large format panel shipments this year, with shipments exceeding 85%. In addition, shipments of 210mm panels are expected to reach record levels.

Major players are unveiling numerous N-type products, including 210mm N-type panels, leading the industry into the 700W+ era.

Trina Solar said that by the end of the year, it will have established a production capacity of 50 GW for N-type wafers and 75 GW for cells, including 40 GW for N-type cells.

In N-type panels, HJT panels are mainly 210 mm, while TOPCon panels are mainly 210 mm (210R) and 19X.

The 210 mm N-type technology is expected to offer increased value throughout the industrial chain and in the end market, thereby promoting high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry.
